Special Inspection Services
GENERAL APPROACH
The general approach and scope of services for a special inspection project includes special inspection for designated buildings and structures. These services require a Special Inspector and/or a Special Inspector Representative either on a full-time or part-time basis. These services will be provided by a member of 2MNext’s Special Inspection Division.
SCOPE OF WORK
The Special Inspector will be responsible to the enforcement agency and will report inspection results to the enforcement agency, architect/engineer of record, and general contractor. The Special Inspector Representative will generate daily reports of inspections and a weekly summary report shall be prepared by the Special Inspector. Inspection services provided will be limited to the structural members of a structure as required by Section 1704 and 1705 of the Building Code (International Building Code with State of Georgia Amendments). The special inspection services are to be directly performed for and paid by the owner. Furthermore, the Special Inspector does not assume any responsibility for overall project safety of the project site.
The acceptance of any structural component by the Special Inspector does not relieve the General Contractor or any subcontractors of responsibility for complying with the requirements of the contract documents. The Special Inspector or his authorized representative shall not make any design decisions nor direct the contractor to deviate from the contract documents. Any deviation from the contract documents shall be brought to the contractor’s attention at the time the deviation is discovered. Deviations which are corrected in compliance with the project specifications shall require no further action. Deviations or non-conforming items which are not corrected shall be brought to the attention of the Architect/Engineer of Record and the enforcement agency.
When the structural work has been satisfactorily completed, the Special Inspector shall issue a signed and sealed statement to the enforcement agency in accordance with Georgia guidelines. Copies will be sent to the Owner, Architect/Engineer of Record, and General Contractor.
